For my thesis, I used color-coded pages to differentiate the chapters. The choice of fluorescent paper is a deliberate nod to vernacular design (specifically the common use of neon paper for flyers and street posters). I also drew inspiration from these aesthetics for the chapter headings. As part of my research, I created visuals that embrace the codes of "New Ugly" design. By using stretched and distorted typography, LibreOffice software, pixelated imagery, and instinctive layouts, I intentionally ignored traditional graphic rules like grids, typographic standards, and clear hierarchy. These posters use a lighthearted, ironic tone and feature my own photography. This project allowed me to deepen my reflection on transgression in graphic design, leading to the conclusion that transgression only exists in relation to established laws or norms, and its perception evolves according to the spatial, temporal, and cultural context.
